New Goddess Painting!

  • Sep. 1st, 2009 at 9:48 AM

Title: Goddess Of Moon & Stars
Medium: Acrylic Paint on canvas panel
Size: 16 x 20 inches

About the artwork:  She represents the idea that we are not merely of the earth but the moon and the stars, in other words the belief that our souls are connected to so much more than the everyday experience of life. I feel with this painting it is also more of a personal aspect of my psyche where usually I feel I am painting more as an observer, this feels like it has come from a very personal place.

New Fairy Painting!

  • Feb. 4th, 2009 at 12:21 PM

This is my first painting for 2009.

Title:  "The Lotus Pond Fairy"

Acrylic paint on canvas panel

Size: 15" x 18"

I was recently headed back home after my late afternoon walk and spotted this amazing pink lotus flower right next door to my place.

About a month earlier I noticed that my neighbour had a couple of strange looking pots filled with water and greenery in them, I had no idea that she was growing this gorgeous lotus and as I had never seen a real life lotus before, I found it so beautiful to look at. So I took a few pictures which partly inspired this artwork.

As the painting came together I felt like it had a symbolic meaning also.

"A storm has passed and just as the sun is making its way through receding clouds, the fairy that lives at the lotus pond is free to emerge and enjoy the beautiful pond again"

"Watching the sunset"

Acrylic on Canvas panel 11" x 14"

I have been going for lots of walks and jogs down by the bay recently and it probably explains why my last 3 paintings have been mermaids, I feel so inspired by the sea and hopefully I have conveyed some of the magic and beauty I have experienced on those walks in  this painting,

New Mermaid Art!

  • Sep. 30th, 2008 at 7:03 PM

Well its good to be posting some new art, I have some time off work at the moment (paid leave) which is always nice, and I had been craving starting a new painting.

I finished this one tonight. With the weather getting a bit warmer over here in Australia, I wanted to paint something with a summery feel to it. Also I love turquoise its one of my favourite colours and pink seems to go well with it and for this painting I knew what colours I wanted to use from the time I had the sketch on the canvas, which I thought by the way that was a real blessing as choosing colours is sometimes the hardest part of a painting I find.

Anyway hope you like her!

I just finished this one today I wanted to get it completed today as Im back at the office until the weekend and I just couldnt leave it until then.

I have been working on it for the last 2 and half weeks or so.

I was really getting in touch with my inner child on this one and I have been a bit obsessed with owls lately, even having dreams of walking in the night and seeing owls.

New Painting - "Twilight Eclipse"

  • Oct. 30th, 2007 at 11:32 AM

Well, it feels like its been a while since I have posted.

Been busy, working, exercising, catching up on cleaning..Oh yeah I cleaned my flat from top to toe it took at least 4 hours...phew! So worth it, I love throwing away old stuff that I think I need but know that I dont really! It feels like Im purging old energies out to make way for the new...so neccesary!

So the space feels much clearer, now...anyway back to my painting...

I have to say -  I took a fair few photos of the painting as I always do ( which I dont enjoy, due to perfectionist tendencies) and at some stage a hair must have flown onto the lens of my digital camera so most of the better photos of the painting have this long hair on them ( SO annoyed!! ) then the camera battery died so I made
the most of the few photos I took when the lens wasn't tainted by a hair! She also looks much brighter and more
 luminous in reality.

You will notice she is more realistic that some of my recent works...Ahhh I was craving painting something with
more depth and realism.

Enjoy..

Susan :)
